Our Leo Storm Blitz out of the 3-5-3 defense is very easy to install and it works very well in youth football. This is a blitz that can be successfully execute at any age level of youth football. The linebackers are stacked behind the three defensive linemen. This keeps the offensive line guessing and it adds a very nice deceptive element to your defense. The offensive line just won’t know where the defenders are going to attack.

N: Slant back-side A-gap.
DT: Slant B-gap, dip and rip, do not get washed.
DT: Slant backside A-gap.
D: Blitz off of the edge, contain. Jam TE if there is a TE quick pop threat.
D: Blitz off of the edge, contain.
R: Read step to C-gap, pursuit to the ball carrier.
M: Creep up as soon as the QB begins his cadence. Once the ball is snapped, blitz A-gap.
L: Creep up as soon as the QB begins is cadence. Once the ball is snapped, blitz C-gap.
CB: Deed 3rd coverage.
CB: Deep 3rd coverage.
FS: Deep middle 3rd coverage.
Coaching Points
- Defense must attack on ball movement. Blitzing defenders must watch the ball, not try to time the snap count.
- The linebackers must maintain their stack at all times. You don’t want give away which way they are blitzing.
- Pass coverage is a potential issue since almost all the linebackers are blitzing. This blitz can get beat by a TE quick pop or even a quick slant by a wide receiver. You can have the blitz side dog (D) jam the TE to throw off the timing of the quick pop pass. You can also have the (D) lock onto the TE and cover him if he releases. That takes care of the TE quick pop.
