QB Power Play
The QB power play is an excellent play that utilizes a duel threat QB. If you don’t have a mobile QB, bring in a running back and put him at quarterback for this play. This play works the best off of jet motion. The jet motion will make the play look like jet sweep . This will create an easier kick-out block for the pulling guard (blue). We will always kick-out the first defender past the play-side tackle. The motion timing is vital. You want the ball snapped and in the QB’s hands before the motion back passes.
Center: Block backside A-gap defender if the defense has double A-gap defenders. If there is a head up defender, center is to block the head up defender.
Right Guard: Down Block.
Right Tackle: Down Block to Linebacker. Down block to linebacker means- tackle always has to secure his inside gap first. If there is no inside gap defender, get onto linebacker.
Left Guard: Pull kick-out first defender outside the play-side offensive tackle.
Left Tackle: Down block, secure pulling guard’s gap.
Tight-end: Down block.
Left Receiver: Full speed jet motion, fake jet sweep.
The receivers to the right will run off the defenders (vs man to man). If the defenders are playing zone, have the receiver stalk block.
